Colin MacDonald, is the founder and Group CEO of Fine Grain Property www.finegrainproperty.com, a successful Singapore-based international real estate investor and operator. Founded in Singapore in 2007, Fine Grain Property is passionate about creating great working environments for employers by buying, repositioning, and developing commercial property in Singapore and Ireland.
Colin has 29 years of international banking and real estate experience in Asia, 22 years of which have been in Singapore. He came to Asia as an International Manager with HSBC, with whom he spent 7 years before working for 3 years with Far East Organization (Singapore’s largest private property developer) as CFO where he oversaw the S$380 million redevelopment and restoration of the historic, five star, 399 room Fullerton Hotel, which opened in December 2000.
Fine Grain Property opened its Dublin office in 2016, and has since invested close to EUR100 million in building a long-term stable portfolio of Irish industrial, logistics and business park properties. Alongside Fine Grain’s principals and its other Asian investors, the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF) is a co-investor in developing workspaces in Ireland.
The Fine Grain portfolio of 11 Irish properties is focused on meeting the needs of employers across the country, and is mainly invested outside Dublin. This includes the development of a new 45,000 sq ft office building at the IDA Business Park in Parkmore East, Galway (completing May 2018), and a new 56,000 sq ft office building in Plassey, Limerick. Fine Grain’s experienced team in Ireland is actively seeking futher investment opportunities.
Colin was the founding President of the Irish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore for 12 years until 2010. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has a B.Comm Degree from University College Dublin.
