Project Objectives

xWave developed an initial sustainability action plan and sustainability policies with a Climate Action Voucher in 2022 and undertook a Green Start project in 2023 to calculate their Organisational Carbon Footprint and develop a Carbon Reduction Roadmap.

xWave are also able to demonstrate the positive environmental impact their xRefer smart radiology referral platform has by reducing emissions.

Results 

• The actions identified in the exercise will yield a 39% or greater reduction in emissions, including:
• Encourage and incentivise all staff members to switch to 100% renewable energy electricity plans, achieving a reduction of 10%.
• Reduce air travel by 25% by opting for virtual meetings, achieving a reduction of 17%.
• Choosing accommodation providers that have certified sustainability and green energy programmes, achieving a reduction of 12%.

Impact

Having a formalised organizational carbon footprint reduction plan and sustainability policies means the company is scoring higher on public sector tenders and, as a result, won new contracts with the NHS Trusts in the UK, supporting their expansion in a new market.
