Lee Strand is continuously setting objectives and targets to reduce electrical and gas consumption, reduce water consumption and waste generation and therefore reduce our overall carbon footprint.

Project Objectives

Install electrical, gas and water meters across the site. The data will be connected to an energy software platform, which will represent all the data streams at half-hour intervals. This data will be used long-term for ongoing monitoring of the utilities of the plant and to enable Lee Strand to make better-informed investment decisions in the future.

Result

Achieved an initial 12% reduction in electrical consumption after installing submeters by making a few tweaks without any further capital outlay.

Impacts

• An Energy Committee was formed to drill down on the granular data to help identify what was using the energy and when across the day to identify further energy savings over time.
• Submetering provided data on energy usage load profiles, ensuring a solar PV project was sized correctly.
