Herdwatch and McHale Secure Silver Awards at LAMMA
Enterprise Ireland today announced that a record 21 Irish client companies in the agritech and agri machinery sectors will exhibit at LAMMA 2026. LAMMA is the UK's leading agricultural machinery, equipment and technology show, attracting over 40,000 visitors each year, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 14-15 January 2026.
Irish agri machinery and agritech solutions continue to see strong demand in the UK market, driven by their reputation for durability and innovation. Products in high demand include advanced balers and wrappers, slurry spreading and manure management systems, livestock handling and feeding equipment, grassland management technologies, and farm management software – including AI-powered solutions that enhance animal welfare, compliance and overall farm efficiency.
Highlighting the innovation and excellence of Irish companies, Herdwatch secured a prestigious Silver award at the LAMMA 2026 Innovation Awards in the Digital Technology Innovation of the Year category for their AI app Herdi. The award celebrates a cutting-edge digital solution that transforms on-farm decision-making, streamlines operations, and drives smarter, data-led performance across the agricultural industry.
Herdi is an AI-powered, context-aware assistant designed for livestock farmers in the UK and Ireland, integrated into the Herdwatch app used on over 22,000 dairy, beef and sheep farms. It provides instant, accurate guidance on animal health, compliance, breeding and pasture management by combining farm records with external data such as weather and market prices, alongside specialist AI modules. Leveraging existing Herdwatch data from sensors, parlour software and statutory databases, Herdi eliminates duplicate data entry. Developed based on direct farmer feedback, it turns complex data into actionable insights, saving time, reducing errors and enabling smarter, more efficient farm management.
Additionally, leading Irish agri machinery company McHale secured two prestigious Silver awards at the LAMMA 2026 Innovation Awards. The company won Silver in the Grassland Innovation of the Year category for its TerraDrive Axle – a hydraulic drive system available as an option on McHale Fusion 4 Plus balers that provides enhanced traction in soft, wet or hilly conditions, reducing strain on the tractor and improving performance in unpredictable weather.
McHale also received Silver in the British and Irish Manufacturer of the Year category, recognising its ongoing commitment to engineering excellence, product innovation, global export growth, sustainability (including ISO14001 accreditation and durable machinery design), and support for rural employment.
Jane Lycett, Enterprise Ireland's Senior Market Advisor for Agriculture in the UK, commented: “We are delighted to support this strong contingent of 21 innovative Irish companies at LAMMA 2026. The UK remains a key market for Irish agri machinery and agritech, with the UK agricultural machinery sector valued at approximately £2.5 billion annually. Backed by a dynamic Irish farm machinery industry, our clients' reliable, high-performance solutions are highly valued by UK farmers facing similar climatic and operational challenges. The awards for Herdwatch and McHale further demonstrate the world-class innovation coming from Ireland, while events like LAMMA provide an excellent platform for our companies to build new partnerships and drive innovation adoption in UK farming.”
