How can we help?
A significant milestone in Drogheda’s journey towards becoming a leading destination for digital innovation and entrepreneurship took place on the 17th December when Peter Burke TD, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, officially opened the Drogheda Digital Hub.
Located on Narrow West Street, the Drogheda Digital Hub is designed to foster a vibrant community of digital start-ups, remote workers, and scaling tech enterprises in the heart of the town.
The initiative, in conjunction with Louth County Council, is supported by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment under the Border Enterprise Development Fund, administered by Enterprise Ireland.
The launch event was attended by an esteemed gathering of dignitaries, including Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke TD, Cllr Seán Kelly, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, Cllr Michelle Hall, Mayor of Drogheda, David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council and Thomas McEvoy, Director of Services, local business leaders and community representatives.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Burke said: “The Drogheda Digital Hub will provide essential digital services to support SMEs to start and grow in Drogheda, Louth and the wider North-East. This digital hub will be an important part of the structures which support business development locally, working closely with Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Office, among others. Digitalisation remains at the heart of Ireland’s enterprise policy and our ambition for Ireland to remain a digital frontrunner. The Drogheda Digital Hub will unlock digital potential in the region and provide practical support to businesses to stay ahead of the curve on innovation and productivity.”
Cllr Seán Kelly, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, said: "The Drogheda Digital Hub represents a bold step forward for the town. It has breathed new life into Narrow West Street and is a creative space where innovation and entrepreneurs can thrive. This investment is about building a future where Drogheda is recognised as a hub for digital excellence and opportunity."
Cllr Michelle Hall, Mayor of Drogheda, said: "The Digital Hub is a very welcome addition to Drogheda. It will bring energy and opportunity back into the heart of our town, supporting local businesses and creating a space where creativity and technology meet. This hub will not only support local talent but also attract new investment, helping Drogheda to position itself as a key player in the digital economy of the North-East.”
David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, added: "Technology and digital transformation are the driving forces of tomorrow, and Drogheda is determined to be at the forefront of these developments. The Drogheda Digital Hub is committed to empowering our local technical talent by providing the tools, resources, and support they need to establish and grow their own tech businesses. By nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship within our community, we aim to create a thriving ecosystem where ideas flourish, businesses scale, and Drogheda becomes a leading centre for digital excellence."
Carol Gibbons, Head of Entrepreneurship and Regions at Enterprise Ireland said, “Supporting innovative regional start-ups is a huge focus for Enterprise Ireland and the Border Enterprise Development Fund has been an effective mechanism to support enterprise development in the region. We are delighted to support the development of the Drogheda Digital Hub, a state-of the-art enterprise centre here in the centre of Drogheda from which the digital technology sector can operate, develop, and thrive. By bringing together a diverse range of skills, knowledge and resources, the Drogheda Digital Hub will enable real collaboration to take place and accelerate the growth of digital transformation in the North-East.
The Drogheda Digital Hub offers state-of-the-art facilities, including over 20 co-working desks, private booths, meeting rooms, event spaces, and cutting-edge technology infrastructure. It provides affordable workspace, tailored mentoring programmes, business support services, and training opportunities to empower start-ups and creatives.
Boyne Innovate, the hub’s flagship programme, serves as a launchpad for bold ideas and groundbreaking innovations, and by offering guidance and resources, the programme aims to accelerate start-ups.
More recently, the Hub delivered several ‘DigiBytes’ evening training sessions for entrepreneurs with an innovative idea in the digital or health sectors, where they were introduced to guest speakers who have already set up businesses to bring their experience and knowledge to people in the start-up phase.
Fionnuala Rogers, Programme Manager of the Drogheda Digital Hub, encouraged entrepreneurs and remote workers to take advantage of the hub’s facilities, saying:
"The Drogheda Digital Hub is committed to working closely with the Drogheda Chamber of Commerce to bring digital knowledge and expertise to local businesses.
Our goal is to ensure that Drogheda’s business community remains at the forefront of digital transformation by equipping them with the tools, training, and insights needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven economy. Through joint initiatives, workshops, and knowledge-sharing programmes, we aim to empower businesses to embrace innovation, enhance competitiveness, and future-proof their operations.
Whether you're building a start-up or simply need a productive place to work, this is your chance to plug into Drogheda’s newest hub of creativity and collaboration."
The Drogheda Digital Hub is more than a workspace - it is a catalyst for urban renewal and economic transformation, reinforcing Drogheda’s position as a dynamic centre for innovation.
