Minister Troy attends VivaTech in Paris – Europe’s biggest start-up and tech event

Minister Troy will meet with Enterprise Ireland supported companies during the visit to support their participation at VivaTech and their diversification strategy in France

This week, Minister of State Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Robert Troy will join a number of European Ministers at VivaTech, Europe’s biggest start-up and tech event, which takes place in Paris and online 16-19 June 2021.

During the visit, Minister Troy will meet with representatives from the Enterprise Ireland France office to discuss Enterprise Ireland’s event ‘Irish Digital Innovation – A French Perspective’, which coincides with VivaTech. The Irish Digital Innovation event introduces Irish companies to French buyers, and will highlight cutting-edge Irish solutions under the themes of payments and cashflow, cybersecurity and authentication, and digitising workflows.

Minister Troy will also meet with Enterprise Ireland supported companies to hear about their participation at VivaTech and how they view the French opportunity in the context of their diversification strategy.

Commenting on the visit, Minister Troy said,“France is now Ireland’s closest neighbour in the European Union, and Ireland remains strongly committed to the EU. I am encouraged to see Irish companies making their mark at VivaTech. With Ireland’s reputation as a global tech hub, it is no surprise that some of France’s leading companies are using Irish digital technology to drive their growth. I look forward to attending VivaTech, and also to meeting the Enterprise Ireland team in France and the companies they support, who are taking advantage of the opportunities in France to grow and scale their businesses.”

Patrick Torrekens, Country Manager France at Enterprise Ireland, said, “We are delighted to welcome Minister Troy to Paris for this important visit. We see growing opportunities for innovative Irish companies in the digital sector in France. France and the Eurozone have significant potential for indigenous Irish businesses in the technology sector, and we believe that their expertise and know-how are the important factors in developing sustainable business relationships.”

Now in its fifth year, VivaTech has in previous years attracted 13,000 companies and 3,300 investors from 125 countries. The event aims to bring together the best innovation actors to ignite positive change in business and for society, acting as a global catalyst for digital transformation and start-up growth.

Enterprise Ireland will have 10 clients participating virtually in VivaTech Paris, 16-19 June. Click here for more information.
