PQE Technology announces the creation of 10 new jobs as part of expansion
Engineering sub-component manufacturer, PQE Technology, has officially opened a new 4,225 m² purpose-built A rated NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) factory in Cootehill, Co. Cavan, enabling a 50% increase in production capacity to support expansion and growth in domestic and international markets.
The development is set to create 10 jobs over the next 18 months and will be key to the continuing growth of the company as it manufactures a range of components for projects domestically, in the Nordics, the UK and the US.
PQE Technology currently employs 60 people and has developed a first-class reputation in manufacturing fabricated weld assemblies, treated assemblies, machined components, assemblies, and pivot pins for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across multiple sectors.
PQE operates as a one-stop subcontractor offering cost-effective engineering solutions for industries including agriculture, construction, materials handling, power distribution, and renewable energy.
The new facility was officially opened by Minister of State for Trade Promotion, AI and Digital Transformation, Niamh Smyth T.D., who welcomed the investment and jobs announcement.
Minister Smyth said: “Today’s expansion is a significant boost for Cavan, and the wider Border region and will enable this innovative Irish company to scale its business globally. I would like to congratulate Paul and the entire team at PQE Technology. Their expertise and passion have driven the company’s success to date, and today’s announcement is a testament to their hard work. PQE Technology’s continued investment in its people, technologies and equipment has positioned it as a manufacturer of choice for OEMs both at home and internationally. My Department, through Enterprise Ireland, looks forward to continuing to work with PQE Technology as it grows into the future.”
Paul Quinn, Founder and Managing Director at PQE Technology, said: “The opening of our new facility marks a major milestone for us. The investment allows us to significantly increase capacity, enhance our manufacturing capabilities and better support our customers in Ireland and overseas. We have so much to be grateful for: our loyal customer base, our dependable suppliers and of course our dedicated staff. Importantly, over 25% of our electricity consumption is now being supplied by on-site solar energy.
We look to a bright future in both domestic and international markets and the expansion positions us to compete at the highest level while continuing to invest in our team, our technology and our home base here in Cootehill. We are proud to be growing an indigenous engineering business with global reach.”
The expansion has been supported by Enterprise Ireland through the Sustaining Enterprise Fund, and the company will continue to work closely with Enterprise Ireland as it progresses its growth plans.
Nicola NicPhaidin, Head of Industrial Solutions Department at Enterprise Ireland, said: “I would like to congratulate Paul and the entire team at PQE Technology on the opening of this impressive, state-of-the-art facility in Cootehill and commend the ambition of this indigenous company to compete at the highest level, supplying components to leading equipment manufacturers here in Ireland, the UK and the US.
Enterprise Ireland is committed to supporting companies like PQE Technology to innovate, enhance competitiveness and expand their international footprint, with the ultimate objective of delivering sustainable export growth and high-quality jobs in Ireland. We look forward to continuing to work with the company as it grows its operations both at home and in overseas markets.”
