How can we help?
Enterprise Ireland publishes 2025 export results, showing client exports reached a record €38.86bn
Leading Irish electrical engineering firm BMC Manufacturing has today announced it will create an additional 500 new jobs as part of a major expansion plan.
This significant job expansion plan, which is being supported by Enterprise Ireland, is in response to increasing demand for BMC Manufacturing’s innovative solutions, which are used globally in critical digital infrastructure.
The new jobs, which will be filled by the end of 2028, are across a variety of functions within the business, including engineering, technology and operations. These new roles will be primarily at BMC Manufacturing’s sites in Dublin, but will also include new positions at their Co Meath location.
BMC Manufacturing, founded in Co Meath in 1991, is a leading Irish electrical engineering company, delivering innovations in the area of low voltage switchgear and critical power solutions.
This major jobs expansion plan, which was announced at an event today where Enterprise Ireland also published its clients’ annual export results, is being driven by an increase in demand for the company’s expertise in design and manufacturing from industry partners and global data centre operators, including Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Welcoming this significant announcement from BMC Manufacturing, Peter Burke TD, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, said: “The Government, working with our colleagues from Enterprise Ireland and from across the enterprise ecosystem, is committed to supporting Irish companies to scale and become global leaders in their field, and BMC Manufacturing is a clear reflection of that. From starting out as a small company in Co Meath, to now having their technology used across the world, BMC Manufacturing is a true Irish success story. I’d like to congratulate Brendan, Colm and all their team on this significant milestone, and wish them the best with this new chapter in their journey.”
Brendan Meehan, Founder and Chairman, BMC Manufacturing, said: “We are delighted today to announce details of the significant expansion of our operations here in Ireland, with the creation of an additional 500 new jobs by the end of 2028. We are a proudly Irish company, and we are committed to working with our partners and valued clients to continue to deliver innovative and much needed solutions for critical global infrastructure, which are shaping the future by powering evolving technology and digital solutions. This expanded workforce will strengthen our operations and drive further growth, and we are delighted to have received significant support to enable this from Enterprise Ireland.”
Congratulating BMC Manufacturing, Jenny Melia, CEO, Enterprise Ireland, said: “It is Enterprise Ireland’s long-term ambition that Irish-owned companies will become the primary driver of the Irish economy, and it is ambitious leaders like Brendan and Colm who will help us to realise this goal. Supporting indigenous Irish exporters to start, grow and compete is our focus, and working with them to scale in overseas markets and become a global leader is a priority for me. BMC Manufacturing is the epitome of that, an Irish company with global ambition who have established trusted partnerships with leading global firms. I want to congratulate all the team for their success, and Enterprise Ireland is proud to be on this journey with them.”
Commenting on AWS's work with BMC Manufacturing, Niamh Gallagher, Country Lead for AWS in Ireland, said: "Since opening our first infrastructure region in Ireland almost two decades ago, AWS has helped support a thriving local supplier network, creating real opportunities for Irish businesses to grow their expertise in international markets. BMC Manufacturing is a great example of that. The creation of 500 new jobs speaks to the depth of talent within Ireland's manufacturing sector, and we're proud to play a part in driving this growth."
Enterprise Ireland’s annual export results
This significant job announcement was made today at an event in BMC Manufacturing’s facilities in Dublin, where Enterprise Ireland also published its Annual Business Results for 2025, which found that companies it supports achieved record exports last year of €38.86bn.
An increase of 8% on the year prior, exports from Enterprise Ireland’s client companies have increased significantly over the last decade, up 89% since 2015 when they were €20.6bn.
Enterprise Ireland also confirmed that expenditure by its client base in the Irish economy in 2025 had also reached a record high, with its clients spending €43.73bn here last year- almost €120m per day- on payroll, goods and services.
Among our client base’s exports in 2025, growth was recorded across Enterprise Ireland’s three main sectors, with increases across all major markets.
Exports to Europe and the UK both exceeded €11bn for the first time, and these two markets now account for 29% of all exports each. Exports to North America remained steady, and it continues to be the third largest market for our client base, with exports there growing to €7.34bn in 2025, a 1% increase on the year prior.
The Nordics also saw a significant increase in exports to the region, increasing by 39% to €2.78bn. Driven largely by a significant increase in High-Tech Construction exports to the region, the Nordics now account for a total of 7% of Enterprise Ireland’s client exports, more than double the 3% total in 2015.
Enterprise Ireland’s three key sectors all saw steady and positive growth in 2025;
Food, Drink, Nutrition and ClimateTech exports reached €16.98bn (+5%)
Advanced Manufacturing, Construction & Lifesciences exports rose to €13.16bn (+14%)
Technology, Services & Consumer exports hit €8.72bn (+5%)
Among these sectors, particularly strong performances were recorded by the High-Tech Construction and Climate Tech & Renewable Energy portfolios, as both saw increases of 24% in exports last year. There were strong performances from Digital Technologies companies, with exports rising by 12%.
Welcoming the results, Minister Burke said: “These results published today by Enterprise Ireland on behalf of its client base demonstrate the strength, ambition and resilience of Irish enterprise. Achieving record levels of exports is a clear reflection of the innovation and global competitiveness of our companies, supported by Enterprise Ireland. These results underline the important role Irish businesses play in driving economic growth, creating jobs and strengthening Ireland’s position in international markets. The Irish government is committed to supporting these companies to continue to grow, and we will continue to work with our partners in Enterprise Ireland and from across the ecosystem to ensure we deliver a supportive economic environment where they can thrive.”
Announcing Enterprise Ireland's export results today, Ms Melia said: “The results we are delighted to publish today on behalf of our client base demonstrates strong and steady growth by these companies in global markets. In an increasingly competitive and ever-changing global economic environment, these results reflect our client companies’ resilience and agility, and are a testament to their ability to adapt and diversify. Their export growth has a huge economic impact at home, and Enterprise Ireland is very proud of the €43.73bn contribution these companies made to the Irish economy in terms of expenditure last year, equating to almost €120m per day, and they now employ 232,425 people in towns and villages around the country.
“It is our long-term ambition that our indigenous exporters will become the primary driver of the Irish economy. A focused and collaborative approach will be critical to driving our Start and Scaling Agenda, to ensure our clients' success on the global stage. These results are a reflection of their continued and relentless focus on excellence, as well as their commitment to increasing competitiveness by investing in people and innovations, and last year our client base spent €1.68bn on R&D. We are committed to building a strong pipeline for future export growth and with the right supports, Irish enterprises can be the catalyst behind the next wave of Ireland’s economic success.”
