With accelerated climate change, the biodiversity crisis, increasing costs and regulations, and increasing stakeholder demands, embracing sustainability is a strategic business imperative for all businesses. The practices, policies and management systems will vary from company to company, depending on their stage of growth, size, and sector, for example, early-stage companies and SMEs at the start of their sustainability journey, as a starting point, should have sustainability policies in place covering environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues relevant to their company.
To assist early-stage companies in meeting Invest Europe ESG reporting obligations, required by investors, the Irish Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (IVCA) with the support of some of their associate members have produced 9 standard ESG policy templates. Adopting these policies will ensure that most early-stage SMEs will be equipped to adhere to the ESG requirements outlined in the Invest Europe reporting template.
The ESG policy templates along with short webinar explainers are hosted on the IVCA website and these templates while designed for early-stage companies can also be adopted by SMEs which are at an early stage of their sustainability journey.
