USA Clients driving change > Workhuman
Whether at home, in society or at work, everyone knows that it's nice to be nice – but while this may be a simple and obvious concept, it doesn't always apply in real life.
This is where Workhuman comes in. Founded in 1999 by Irish man, Eric Mosley, the software firm provides a peer-to-peer employee recognition platform that is focused on improving workplace culture through meaningful recognition and feedback. A pioneer in its field, the company has revolutionised the employee experience for enterprises worldwide, empowering business and HR leaders with a single cloud platform for peer-to-peer employee recognition, continuous performance management, and modules which ‘celebrate the whole human’, whether that involves recognising work anniversaries, personal life events or community activities.
Headquartered both in Dublin and Massachusetts, the innovative company facilitates a recognition moment every two seconds for over 7.5 million employees in over 180 countries.
With over 1,000 employees on both sides of the Atlantic, its most recent innovation lies in the use of AI to generate insights from companies’ recognition data. These insights offer a more data-driven, non-biased approach to talent management, helping clients to identify trends in employee engagement and spot emerging talent.

Working with some big name companies including LinkedIn and Cisco, the technology provides a ‘unique data point which reveals trends and insights into employee behaviour, inclusion, and company culture’. And Jesse Harriott, Executive Director of the Workhuman iQ, Workhuman’s AI-powered social analytics solution, says that its software can help to empower the individual worker, which not only creates a positive environment but also helps to increase productivity.
“The Workhuman platform drives benefits in a couple of different ways,” he said. “Firstly, it helps employees to be more engaged when they feel connected, seen, and appreciated. The idea that you're part of a workforce which values you, makes for positive talent outcomes, such as higher levels of engagement and a discretionary effort to try harder. And with performance improvement, comes increased employee productivity and increased sales effectiveness.
“AI-powered, Workhuman iQ puts HR and business leaders’ finger on the pulse of their people analytics, helping them turn insights into action – and our studies have shown that things like total recordable injury rates in a manufacturing environment for example, will improve when people are recognized for safety, because they start to see what good looks like. Then they can model that, or be on the lookout for that in their in their daily work. So business outcomes are really the products of what employees are doing every day at work.”
Additionally, their unique software allows clients to use its employee recognition programme to ‘tap into millions of data points generated from recognition moments’ as by using Workhuman’s iQ AI Assistant, employers can unearth many insights such as who is the best performer on a team, or if anyone has any hidden talents. It can also reveal the employees who show initiative, contribute positively or influence their peers.
“These insights help them identify to trends in employee engagement and spot emerging talent, transforming how organisations understand and manage their workforce, offering a more data-driven, non-biased approach to talent management,” said Harriott.
“Our AI applications also enable managers and business leaders to work out which employees are less engaged or at risk of leaving, helping them take preventative steps, quickly and decisively. We know that it is right to treat people with respect and our technology helps companies to improve their culture and recognise the individual traits of their employees.”
According to Harriott, Workhuman iQ does particularly well in large multinational companies, biotech, biopharma and in financial services, and thanks to this unique AI, businesses can have a much greater understanding of their workforce – something which helps to promote both company growth and positive mental health.
“When we launch a programme with a client, we talk to them about their talent and business objectives,” he said. “We help them to set up a measurement plan to evaluate the return on their investment, to make sure that if they're trying to drive leadership, employee performance, or safety, that they're actually doing that, and can see the results and benefits. Then we work with them to understand where collaboration is happening, and what or who are the hidden gems inside their workforce.
“This allows them to recognise the people who are doing great work, but may not have been noticed in a traditional management hierarchy. And our social recognition platform allows employees to celebrate with each other as colleagues can give praise and reward each other for hard work, collaboration and positive contribution.”
