Fintech CSF Winner - Jonny Cosgrove, MeetingRoom
Jonny Cosgrove is the founder of MeetingRoom, a Deep Tech company which through virtual reality (VR) technology, provides virtual meeting rooms in the cloud allowing global teams to meet and virtually gather around a table from anywhere, on any device.
According to Jonny, winning the Competitive Start Fund for Fintech accelerated the company’s growth. Here, he outlines the challenges he faced at early start-up stage and applying for the Competitive Start Fund (CSF):
As a bootstrapped business competing with some of the biggest players in the market, keeping focus as a team was one of our biggest challenges in the beginning. However, in the end it was one of our greatest achievements. We had to make sure we did a lot, with very little!
Applying for CSF
We wanted a strong partner who could help us kickstart our business, and Enterprise Ireland and the CSF was an obvious choice for our team. We knew that in terms of funding and supports it could help bring us to the next level.
We received key funding and mentorship from Enterprise Ireland when we won the CSF, and parallel to that, we also got a new home and family through incubation in the Startlab Dublin, powered by Bank of Ireland. We have been advised by some amazing leaders in Irish and international business, which has led to an acceleration in growth.
Advice to future applicants
- Be concise.
- Be sure of what you're doing and have clear, achievable objectives.
- Get the basics right, then the CSF can help your business soar.
