Finalise & Execute your Plan

Success in international markets will help secure the long-term, sustainable growth of your business. But good preparation is essential to successfully manage the risks, particularly when exporting for the first time. A well developed export plan will help you reduce the risk and cost associated with entering new markets and will ensure that if you invest the effort, there is a strong likelihood of success. This section of our website will help you identify what you need to do to get export-ready and the steps required to develop your export plan.

Step 1: Are you Ready to Export?

Entering new markets requires access to adequate finance, partners and staff resources right from the start, rather than waiting for problems to arise during implementation of your plan.

Enterprise Ireland Supports at this Step

Our export development programmes for new and early exporters can help provide you and your team with the tools and techniques to achieve success in international markets. Come along to one of the next Export Awareness seminars which take place regularly in a number of locations around Ireland.

Also consider taking part in our Exploring Exporting workshops, which will help you to understand the challenges of exporting and take you through a systematic approach in preparing for export. An experienced Business Mentor can advise and guide you on your export strategy and how it fits with your company's strategic plan. The Market Research Centre (MRC) has many valuable market information reports that can be accessed by you.

Use our Gap Analysis & Action Plan (GA&AP) to focus your efforts as you take the next steps in your exporting journey. This document is ideally suited as the final step in completing your Exploring Exporting Workshop, but it also works fine as a stand alone piece of work. This Analysis will enable you to create a series of 'Actions' or 'Need to Do's' in order to arrive at a strong, robust, executable export plan.
