Joint Technology Initiatives

Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership (ECSEL) Joint Undertaking

ECSEL (Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership) Joint Undertaking has replaced the ENIAC (micro/nano electronics) and ARTEMIS (embedded software systems) programmes that have been running since 2008 and integrates them with the activities of the European Technology Platform on Smart System Integration EPoSS.

The ECSEL Joint Undertaking has the objective of contributing to the implementation of the Horizon 2020 programme, and in particular to Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies.

Am I eligible?

Companies that are eligible to receive funding from Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, or Udaras na Gaeltachta may participate in the ECSEL Joint Undertaking. Companies should be able to satisfy the relevant national funding agency that they have the potential to derive a benefit proportionate to the national funding being sought, through the exploitation of the results of the research or otherwise.

Higher Education Institutions will be eligible only if;

  • there is also at least one Irish based company that meets the national eligibility criteria in the consortium, and
  • the national funding agencies are satisfied that there will be a benefit from the participation of the Higher Education Institution, proportionate to the funding being sought, for an Irish based company or companies that the agencies are satisfied to support.

Projects should be introduced by companies and primarily executed to the benefit of these entities.
