Regional SMEs attend Enterprise Ireland Exporting Workshop
21st January, 2020
Enterprise Ireland held its one-day Export Development Workshop for SMEs this week to encourage early stage exporters boost their international growth.
The workshop, which is provided by expert staff from Enterprise Ireland’s in-market teams, aims to support companies interested in growing their business through exports but are unsure of what is involved in taking the steps to identify overseas business opportunities.
Commenting following the workshop, Mark Christal, Divisional Manager for Regions and Entrepreneurship, Enterprise Ireland said, “Success in overseas markets is crucial to the long-term growth of both regional Irish businesses and the Irish economy. Support for companies focused on growth through international sales is a priority for Enterprise Ireland and we are committed to facilitating the development of a strong exporting sector.
“The workshops are designed to assist companies strengthen their capabilities to expand reach globally, but we also offer customised sales training and free access to experts to bolster international selling skills and improve people performance.
“We are always conscious to ensure that the supports and workshops are equally as accessible to companies in towns and villages around Ireland as they are to those in more urban centres like Dublin, Cork or Galway. That’s an important aspect of the value of these workshops – we appreciate that it can be very difficult for businesses to take the time away from their regional premises to travel a long distance.
“The companies that attended this month’s workshop in Mullingar are ambitious, looking to make real progress in attracting global business interest.
“We are encouraging anyone interested in finding out more about strengthening exports or taking the first steps to exporting to sign up to similar workshops which will take place in the coming weeks in Wexford, Tipperary, Sligo, Kildare and Dublin.”
Speaking afterwards, Catherine Cullen of Maginn Machinery who attended the day said, “The workshop was very informative and encouraged me to think strategically about the steps to take to grow my business in international markets”.
