Representing a cluster of over 1,000 digital technology companies, Enterprise Ireland today launched a social media campaign to promote Ireland’s thriving and innovative digital technology cluster to international audiences. These digital technology companies who operate across a number of industries had combined annual sales of over €6.5bn and exports of €3.6bn in 2018.

The social video ‘This is the Irish Advantage’ showcases the impact of Irish digital technology internationally, delivering innovation to global brands. Featured in the video are the Irish companies; Aid:Tech, CubicTelecom, Luzern, SoftCo and Teamwork and global brands; Audi, Philips Hue, Primark, Women’s World Banking and Special Olympics.

Timed to align with St. Patrick’s Day, the social media campaign will be primarily promoted in North America, and in the UK and the Eurozone, the three largest markets for Enterprise Ireland digital technology exports. In 2018, Enterprise Ireland digital technology clients exported €1.3bn to North America, €0.9bn to the UK and almost €0.5bn to the Eurozone.

Commenting on the initiative, Carol Gibbons, Head of Enterprise Ireland’s ICT Division said,There’s incredible energy and depth in the Irish tech scene. Accounting for €3.6bn exports in 2018, the story behind the figures shows the strength of Irish technology companies and the impact they are making across the world, delivering innovation to global brands. Enterprise Ireland client companies in the ICT & international services sectors last year employed over 63,000 people. This sector is very important to Ireland and we are helping this sector to start, scale and win business internationally.”

“Launching this campaign around St. Patrick’s Day, provides us with an opportunity to present the new story of Ireland, an island of innovation, where some of the world’s most advanced digital technology companies have grown up alongside global tech giants. Exceptional talent, a vibrant investment activity and a renowned research base have combined to create one of the world’s leading tech hubs” added Carol Gibbons.
