Designers and makers to unveil their latest collections at Showcase – Ireland’s Creative Expo® in the RDS, Dublin, 19th – 22nd January

44th edition of renowned annual trade fair prepares to welcome buyers from 26 countries during intensive four days

Showcase - Ireland’s Creative Expo® returns to the RDS, Dublin from Sunday, 19th to Wednesday, 22nd January 2020. Now in its 44th year, Showcase is one of Ireland’s largest international trade fairs.

Buying teams from over 2,760 retail businesses from across the world will travel to the RDS to discover unique, authentic, contemporary products designed and made in Ireland. Over 400 creative brands, of which more than 50 are debuting at Showcase this year, will be presenting their new 2020 collections across fashion, jewellery, and home & giftware.

Showcase is a landmark event for Ireland’s design and craft sector each year. Orders generated over the four days of the 2019 show were €25.1M (+4.6%), equating to an annualised sales level of €159.2M (+4.4%) and another strong year is expected for 2020.

The main international markets for Showcase are the UK, USA, Mainland Europe and the Far East. In 2019, Showcase partnered with Enterprise Ireland to run promotional events in Japan and New York and a direct marketing campaign in Germany. Indications are there will be strong growth from these markets in 2020, with a 20% increase in buyers forecasted from Germany.

Showcase 2020 will have a number of exciting features, including:

  • The launch of , a new inspirational short film to create awareness and appreciation of Irish-made textiles, accessories and apparel. Directed by internationally celebrated Irish photographer, Boo George, in collaboration with fashion director Paula Hughes, the film was commissioned and produced by Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI).
  • Specially curated displays of the best products at the show will be arranged by product category to make sourcing easier for busy attendees.
  • Design Ireland®, presented by Design & Crafts Council Ireland, will feature 67 leading makers selected by a jury of international retail experts for their creativity, innovation, craftsmanship and market potential.
  • The Local Enterprise Showcase will feature unique products from emerging Irish businesses supported by their Local Enterprise Offices.
  • An extensive seminar programme featuring international industry speakers will deliver thought-provoking workshops for retailers and also provide 1-2-1 advice.

Showcase is presented on behalf of Design & Crafts Council Ireland, with support from Enterprise Ireland in promoting the trade show internationally, and the Local Enterprise Offices nationwide.

The Local Enterprise Showcase, which will once again fully occupy the balcony of the Main Hall at the RDS, will feature emerging businesses from across the country. You are seeing, in many cases, new designers and craftspeople coming with innovative ideas and a different take on what is currently in the space.
