Enterprise Ireland's 'Essentials of Exporting' Masterclass, Cork

24th January 2019

Enterprise Ireland in conjunction with the Local Enterprise Office Network will host a series of masterclasses on the ‘Essentials of Exporting’, the first of which will take place in Cork on Thursday, 7th February. The events are aimed at early-stage exporters and companies not currently exporting, to enable them to grow their business and scale in international markets. The series of seven masterclasses will take place across the country from February to November 2019 and are certain to appeal to early stage exporters who wish to expand their global reach.

Speaking at the launch of the series, Head of Exporter Development, Enterprise Ireland, Fergus McMahon said, “These half-day masterclasses will help companies to identify the steps involved in becoming export-ready and will equip them with the necessary skills to evaluate and identify potential market opportunities for their products and services. Participating firms will hear from existing exporters and meet with the Enterprise Ireland Exporter Development team who will assist them to shape their export proposition, ensuring that they have a clear understanding of the actions to take.”

Commenting, Martin Corkery, Regional Director, Enterprise Ireland said, “Enterprise Ireland is encouraging all companies in Cork and the wider region to avail of this support to enable them to scale internationally. Companies will receive expert advice on exploring new markets and an outline of the dedicated supports in place for qualifying firms, and how to access them. Enterprise Ireland is committed to the support of indigenous companies and through these workshops, we intend to enable companies in the South West to take the first steps to realising their global ambition. I am particularly pleased to be working with our colleagues in the Local Enterprise Office Network to ensure that companies in this region with ambition are encouraged and supported to succeed.”

The Chair of the network of Local Enterprise Offices, Oisin Geoghegan said, “The ‘Essentials of Exporting’ masterclasses are being organised all over the country in 2019 where small businesses can hear from successful exporters and meet the experts. In partnership with Enterprise Ireland, the LEOs are encouraging more small businesses and start-ups to diversify by exploring the export potential of their products and services. Assessing the opportunities, the costs, the risks and the rewards of exporting at these masterclasses is critically important in choosing the right export market with the best business potential.”
