Strong Irish showcase at Mobile World Congress 2017

Enterprise Ireland hosts 14 Irish companies on Ireland Pavilion

Enterprise Ireland today announced that 14 client companies will showcase their communications technology solutions on the Ireland Pavilion at Mobile World Congress which takes places in Barcelona from the 27 February to 2 March 2017.

The 14 exhibitors on the Ireland Pavilion comprise of three High Potential Start-Up companies and 11 established companies showcasing in areas from digital engagement tools to utilising AI and data analytics, through to cutting edge technologies in small cell networks. In addition, there are three Enterprise Ireland client companies exhibiting on their own stand to include Asavie, Alpha Wireless and Openet.

The GSMA Mobile World Congress is the world's largest gathering for the mobile industry and this year’s event is expected to attract over 100,000 visitors representing mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world. The event provides an opportunity for Irish companies to network and make sales leads and can be the starting point for significant new contract wins and partnership agreements with major global mobile network carriers.

Amongst the companies exhibiting on the Ireland pavilion are:

  • MDS Amiba - A designer of cloud-based communications software for the small and medium-sized business market, MDS Amiba has developed advanced systems to help SME’s stay in touch – with staff and customers. Web-based video conferencing, cloud-based phone exchanges, and contact centre solutions are just some of the business-friendly solutions offered by MDS Amiba. MDS is a white label provider of VoIP cloud communications with Magnet in Ireland, and also partners with resellers in Holland and the US.
  • SRS – Cork headquartered Software Radio Systems (SRS) provides 'open source' radio signaling research and test platforms which enables companies to build new 4G LTE advanced prototypes. SRS is using partnerships such as its links with the European Space Agency (ESA) to help clients create new products for use in a range of areas – from Wi-Fi on commercial aircraft, to drones, and 4G handsets and networks.
  • Benetel - Benetel is focused on developing leading-edge Hardware Platform Solutions for 4G LTE eNodeB Small Cells – the base-station which phones connect to. Benetel offers off-the-shelf baseband and RF modules in a variety of different frequency bands and output powers, enabling original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to radically increase the speed to market of the newest 4G LTE eNodeB Small Cells. The Benetel solution offers small, portable 4G LTE radio cells that can be carried in individual emergency vehicles, providing critical communications where they’re needed, when they’re needed.
  • Inhance Technology - Cork based Inhance Technology helps blue-chip mobile carriers, retailers and insurers to increase profits, drive new business and retain more customers. With Inhance Technology’s solutions, carriers and retailers can make sure that they’re prepared to retain customer loyalty. Its solutions help carriers and retailers to accurately determine the value of their customers’ mobile device, offering them timely trade-in offers. That helps to drive loyalty and retention.
  • iMobMedia - provides data-driven mobile advertising solutions for publishers and mobile operators globally. From managing millions of mobile user profiles to delivering targeted audiences and ad campaigns, iMOBMEDIA provides an industry leading Data Management Platform (DMP) and Mobile Advertising Solutions.
  • Cubic Telecom - Cubic Telecom offers global solutions for leading companies providing Internet of Things (IoT), Machine-to-Machine (M2M), and mobile device technology all over the world. Its partners and customers include some of the leading Fortune 100 tablet and notebook manufacturers, retailers, M2M and automotive companies such as Audi, Lenovo, HP, Rakuten and Woolworths.

Leo McAdams, Divisional Manager, ICT & ITS, Enterprise Ireland said the Irish mobile communications and software sector is respected globally as an innovator, and that attendance at the annual event would support clients’ efforts in accessing global opportunities in the mobile tech sector. “Ireland is a significant player in the sector - we estimate that approximately 200 of the 650 Irish owned ICT companies are involved in mobile and communications software, which includes the emerging Internet of Things sector. These companies, we estimate, generate €650 million in exports and support 4,000 jobs in Ireland.

Mobile World Congress provides an opportunity for Enterprise Ireland clients to attend buyer meetings, participate in industry networking events and showcase their capabilities to international blue chip companies with the ultimate goal of increasing our global presence in the market and driving exports and jobs at home.”
