Minister Bruton announces 30 new jobs in Westmeath company Green Farm Foods

Green Farm Foods expands operations with €2.8m investmentprogramme with support from Government

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, today (Monday 23 Sept 2013) announced that Green Farm Foods, Rathowen, Co. Westmeath, a leading producer of premium cooked meat products, is to invest €2.8m in a major expansion programme supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland.  This investment will see the company double its production capacity to meet increasing demand for its products, allowing it expand its existing international markets and enter new markets.  The expansion will also lead to the creation of 30 new jobs, bringing total employment in Green Farm Foods to 160. 

Green Farm Foods was established in 1991 by Kenneth Greene and produces high quality cooked meats for the Irish and export markets.  In 2005 the company launched its premium branded range of sliced cooked meats and today is the category leader selling into the retail and multiple market in Ireland. All of Green Farm products are produced with 100% natural ingredients.  Green Farm has grown impressively over the past 20 years, and through product innovation and market development they continue to grow the business.  Over 30% of output is exported to the UK and mainland Europe.

Making the announcement Minister Bruton said:  ‘Green Farm Foods is an ambitious and innovative company in the food sector, and today’s announcement that it is investing in a major expansion programme and creating new jobs is great news for Westmeath and the surrounding region.  Indigenous companies like Green Farm, with their focus on innovation and exports, are a particular priority for the Government, as we seek to create the jobs we need.  In the Action Plan for Jobs we will continue to implement further measures to support indigenous companies so that we can accelerate their expansion and further job creation’.
