Enterprise Ireland Hosts Major Inward Buyer Event to Match Irish Technology with American Teleco Firms
Friday 18th May 2012: Leading decision makers and senior buyers from North America’s major telecoms players are in Dublin from Monday (21st May 2012) to take a look at what Irish technology has to offer them.
EnterpriseIreland has organised a major inward buyer event and technology showcase to introduce Irish companies and their technologies to North American Telecom firms to encourage increased business for Irish firms in North America.
Announcing the initiative, Pat Byrne, Enterprise Ireland’s Telecoms Software Manager said:
“Telecommunications technology is as an area in which Ireland has strong expertise, with exports from indigenous companies reaching approximately €200m in 2011 with double digit growth over the past three years. It is this strength that has attracted these top tier buyers such as AT&T and Telus to visit Ireland.
The week commences with a workshop on "Selling To North American Telecoms Carriers" for over 60 Irish companies on Monday afternoon with major American industry players including:
- Brian Barry: CEO Pinpoint GPS, Former CEO Ericsson Canada
- Chris Boody: Executive Director-IP Messaging and Cloud Applications, AT&T Mobility
- Shane Logan: Director of Services Architecture - TelusCommunications
- Don O'Brien: Consultant & Former Director: Aerial Communications - Now T-MobileUS.
- Hank Skorny: Vice President General Manager, Software and Services Group, Intel
- Adrian Smith: Partner, Ignition Partners - Venture Capital Company
The week will continue with over 50 one-to-one meetings between Irish firms and North American telecoms buyers.
Mr Byrne added, “This is a significant opportunity for these innovative Irish companies to initiate discussions with these leading global telecom providers. The visitors to Ireland are interested in exploring opportunities with these companies and represent serious buying and influencing power in the USA and Canada. AT&T alone recorded $126bn in revenues in 2011 while Telus is a fast- growing Canadian company with over $10bn in revenue.”
