Clare Company "Nowcasting" Wins Esso Contract in West Africa
Ennis-based weather forecasting company Nowcasting International Ltd has secured a €160k multi-year deal with Esso Angola to support their operations in offshore Angola, West Africa.
Nowcasting International, an Enterprise Ireland client company, will service Esso with its patented Nowcasting Pro system - a full online weather package with high resolution weather forecasting. In addition, Esso will receive the squall alert service and hindcast reports for its Angola operations.
Nowcasting is already the weather forecasting supplier for ExxonMobil in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea and has extensive operations in West Africa.
Announcing the contract, Mark White, CEO of Nowcasting International said:
"This contract further consolidates our position as world leader in the Metocean industry, coming on the back of last month's major win in the North Sea with the Canadian operator NEXEN. ESSO is one of the key players in the business and this contract solidifies our presence in Angola and expands our partnership with ESSO and Exxonmobil."

In 2009, Nowcasting International is planning to expand its services, a version for PADs and Mobile phone of their High Resolution software will be available in few weeks, and the new version of its High Resolution service - Nowcasting Pro 6 - will also be launched in June 2009.
