€4m in Export Sales Expected From Inaugural Irish Equine Innovation Exposition

Thursday 6th August 2009: Over €4m of export sales are expected to be generated over the next 18 months by Eqspo 2009, Ireland’s first major global equine innovation showcase which opens in Kilkenny today. 

Organised by Enterprise Ireland and hosted by Connolly’s Red Mills, Eqspo 2009 is the first international buyer showcase for Irish innovative products and services for the equine industry.  Irish producers of feed, supplements, veterinary products and horse accessories will showcase their products, services and latest industry offerings to international buyers.  Around 60 buyers from 34 international equine companies from 16 countries including the UK, US, UAE, China, Singapore, Qatar, Turkey, France, Germany and Austria are expected to attend.

Opening the event this morning, Enterprise Ireland’s Head of International Sales and Partnering Gerry Murphy said: “The worldwide reputation of the Irish bloodstock industry is unparalleled and alongside it has developed a cluster of innovative, world-class equine related products and services that are equally making their mark in markets across the globe.

“The range of countries and high-calibre international buyers at this event reflects the strength of the reputation of Ireland as a supplier of innovative products and services to the international equine industry.  Inward buyer events such as this one are highly effective in marketing Irish manufactured products and services to influential international buyers and we are confident that this showcase will open up new opportunities for the Irish companies exhibiting today.”

Eqspo 2009 continues in Dublin tomorrow where the participants will meet an Tánaiste Mary Coughlan and attend a business networking event at the Dublin Horseshow.
