Astrocourier (Ireland) Ltd is a new company which has been set up to provide low cost commercial access to space, for schools, universities, industry, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts. Initially this will be achieved through the use of two carrier trays called Astrodeck and Astroplate, which can accommodate, respectively, up to 96 or 24 small experimental units and which will be located either on the rooftop of the Spacehab module or on the Integrated Cargo Carrier (ICC) in the Space Shuttle cargo bay. The experiments would spend two to three weeks in space and then be returned to the customers for analysis. The first Astrodeck flight is presently planned for the Summer of 2003.

A complete service is offered to customers including assistance with experiment design, development and qualification, integration / deintegration of the experiment with the carrier tray, shipping to and from the launchsite, flight operations and assistance with post-flight analysis. Astrodeck and Astroplate will be available in both passive versions (Astrodeck I, Astroplate I) and versions offering power and data services (Astrodeck II and Astroplate II). Astrocourier (Ireland) Ltd. has an American sister company - Astrocourier (USA) LLC - which is based in Florida close to the launch site.

A third product called Astropack is also planned which would allow subscribers access to space-based experiments via the Internet.
