Big Ideas 2012

Save this date in your calendar, you don’t want to miss it! Ireland’s latest technologies will be pitching to the investor community on 28 November, 2012 at the Big Ideas Showcase organised and sponsored by Enterprise Ireland.

“Big Ideas” has become the key event in the Irish technology commercialisation calendar since its successful debut in 2009. The Big Ideas Showcase is the largest gathering of inventors in the country. The event will showcase the latest collection of twenty investment opportunities, each with its own merits and business potential. These ideas are the culmination of years of research by some of Ireland’s finest researchers. Their research is solving real problems and creating real opportunities. These twenty ‘big ideas’ will be vying for the attention of over 200 potential investors attending the event.

Among the ‘Big Ideas’ to be pitched to potential investors at this year’s event are technologies that can:

  • Help to improve your IQ
  • Reduce the cost of thoroughbred horse breeding
  • Improve hygiene in our hospitals
  • Reduce hot water bills by up to 50%

Another interesting aspect to the event is a talk given later in the day by three futurist speakers who discuss emerging trends for industry in the areas of ICT, Lifesciences & Food, and Manufacturing, Engineering & Energy.

There will also be an award presented to a previous “Big Idea” from each of these areas that has successfully commercialised their research.

Eleven Technology Transfer Offices will be exhibiting on the day, illustrating what their HEI can offer to industry and why they should be the first choice for research.

Date and Venue

This year’s event will take place in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin 4 on 28 November, 2012, from 10am to 5pm.
