The market reaction is just one indication of the success of Tecpro’s ebusiness strategy. For example Intel USA have embraced the project with open arms resulting in, Tecpro having:

  • online access to Intel’s engineering databases
  • all payments being made electronically
  • all purchase orders being placed electronically

Most significant are the results of a recent supplier business review carried out by Intel. Intel have given Tecpro a ‘5 out of 5’ point score for their achievements in ebusiness.

With the investment the company has made in their ebusiness strategy, Tecpro are well placed to continue their growth in new and expanding markets. Recently the company have secured business with a number orders from prestigious corporations including the production of testing equipment for the new Microsoft Xbox games console. Other business secured from global locations far and wide is another indication of how this investment has continued the success.

  • customers now have the opportunity to access dedicated servers to download specifications
  • customers now have the ability to access their own accounts

  • orders can now be placed electronically with suppliers
  • suppliers can receive online payments directly to their bank accounts

6.3 Benefits for the Company

The operation of Tecpro’s new systems had a profound effect on the company’s operations:

  • central purchasing allowed individual orders to be grouped by supplier and sent out electronically
  • all delivery dockets were scanned upon arrival and electronically filed reducing administrative overheads
  • product quotations are produced with less effort and greater speed due to the accurate monitoring of job turn around time
  • paper has been reduced from 2500 documents per month to under 500
  • manufacturing of new products is facilitated by the use of 3D animation and CAD systems to optimise design rather than building prototypes
  • the company has a cost effective sales tool which demonstrates 3D animated images of new products
  • employees’ timesheets and project status is constantly monitored giving the company real time information on project costs and state of completion
  • employee activities and attendance are accurately monitored
  • several thefts have been thwarted
