Measuresoft Development

4 . Decision

The requirements were developed internally. They were influenced by comments and suggestions for improvements that had been made by distributors at various times in the past. They were also influenced by suggestions made by Measuresoft’s auditors who had the experience of seeing how customers in similar businesses dealt with these
operational issues.

The key point though is that no external vendors were used during the process of scoping requirements and developing the solution. This is because Measuresoft as a technology company felt they had the base capabilities to tackle this challenge and also because they wanted to internalise some of the skills developed during the development and deployment in order to utilise them on future customer engagements. However, Fergal was clear that companies that do not operate in the technology sector should look externally for the right skills and support. The fact that they were a Microsoft Gold Partner influenced their choice of applications and platform as well. They had a depth of experience in-house with Microsoft products and it made sense to capitalise on this.
