We are delighted to support World Intellectual Property Day 2009, an annual celebration that takes place each year on April 26th. This date marks the first convention which established the World Intellectual Property Organisation in 1970.
The theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2009 is Green Innovation.
Enterprise Ireland supports green innovation in Irish companies in a number of ways. We fund existing companies to look at the sustainability of their products and services through our GreenTech Support. Areas such as resource efficiency and carbon management are actively promoted.
We also support the creation of green start-up companies and fund research projects that develop solutions to environmental challenges.
The stories below outline some examples of how Enterprise Ireland supports green innovation in Ireland.

World's first eco-computer developed in Dublin, Ireland.
MicroPro Ltd. is based in Dublin and developed the world’s first biodegradable computer - iameco. The iameco computer is built from bio-degradable wood panels manufactured from waste products from the lumber and pulp industry. MicroPro Ltd received support from Enterprise Ireland under the Environmentally Superior
Products (ESP) programme, to assist in the development of eco computer

Irish wave energy company overcomes challenges of sea patterns
Wavebob is developing a a unique Wave Energy Convertor – ‘Wavebob’, which harnesses the immense power of the ocean to produce clean, renewable energy. The company has licensed a technology from NUI Maynooth that will increase the efficiency of the wave energy generator.

Green blades for wind turbines developed in Galway, Ireland
ÉireComposites is involved in production and R&D in the rapidly-growing area of wind-energy, specifically in thermoplastic composite wind turbine blades and nacelles.
The company licensed a thermoplastic from NUI Galway that allows the company to develop greener blades for wind turbines.

NUI Galway research leads to more efficient treatment of waste-water
