Global demand for services is growing rapidly. This presents a real growth opportunity for Irish service companies, across a wide range of existing and newly emerging sectors. Advances in IT and increased globalisation are enabling businesses that historically served local markets, to target and serve global customers and markets.
Driven by these changes, more and more Irish service companies are being driven to think and act ‘internationally’ in developing their service businesses.
Against this background, the Enterprise Ireland strategy for the period 2008 - 2010, set out the desire to achieve 'a growing presence in a number of niche services sectors, positioning services as a major export growth platform’ .
Recognising the critical importance of services, Enterprise Ireland has established a specialised unit dealing with Internationally Traded Services and developed a strategy for Enterprise Ireland's activities within the ITS sector.
