Twenty of Ireland's leading mobile communications companies are to exhibit their products and services at the Enterprise Ireland pavilion at the Mobile World Congress which takes place in Barcelona next week (11th - 14th February).
The Mobile World Congress (formerly known as 3GSM) is the world's leading mobile communications exhibition events, where top executives from mobile operators, equipment vendors, IT companies and entertainment providers meet to do business. More than 50,000 people attended last year's congress in Barcelona.
Speaking ahead of the week, Jennifer Condon, Manager of Software and Retail Consumer Sectors, Enterprise Ireland said:
"The growth of new mobile communications companies from Ireland continues to be strong and Ireland now boasts over 70 mobile/wireless technology companies. These companies win substantial deals with tier-one global operators and are focused on increasing their reach through partnerships networks with leading operators, distributors and subsidiaries,
"Ireland continues to be a centre of excellence for the development of new and innovative mobile and wireless technologies. This year's participants are at the forefront of their respective industry sectors in areas such as TV for Mobile, Imaging for Camera Phones, Fixed Mobile Convergence and Messaging."
The Irish Pavilion will also host one of the country's key research programmes - IMS ARCS - an industry-led project to develop a platform to facilitate the creation of IMS based services.
