Miriam O’Callaghan
Chairperson

Miriam O’Callaghan was born and raised in Dublin. She qualified as a solicitor before beginning her broadcasting career on ITV’s This is Your Life . She joined the BBC as a producer in 1987, and went on to become a reporter on BBC2’s Newsnight.
In the early ‘90s Miriam returned to Ireland to present RTE’s current affairs flagship programme Prime Time, while continuing to cover the Northern Irish peace process for Newsnight.
In August 2000, Miriam co-founded Mint Productions, an independent production company that specialises in documentaries.
Unusually for a current affairs presenter, Miriam was voted Best TV Personality at the Irish Film and Television Awards in 2003. She won the RTÉ Guide Style Award at the 2007 IFTAs following another public vote.
Outside of her work on Prime Time, Miriam presents her own chat show, Saturday Night with Miriam, during the summer and supports a large number of charitable causes throughout the year.

David Gann
Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship & Chair in Technology and Innovation Management, Imperial College London

David Gann holds the Chair in Technology and Innovation Management – a joint appointment between the Tanaka Business School and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
David is responsible for a large portfolio of research in collaboration with firms in the design, manufacturing, engineering, construction, ICT services and healthcare industries. He is co-Director of the EPSRC Innovation Studies Centre at Imperial College and of the EPSRC/AIM collaborative programme with Cambridge, Cranfield, Loughborough and Liverpool Universities. His personal research includes work recently published in “Think, Play, Do: Technology, Innovation, and Organisation”, co-authored with Mark Dodgson and Ammon Salter, on the intensification of innovation. His work focuses on how innovation technology can reduce costs and uncertainty in innovation processes. It includes studying the use of simulation and modelling in innovation, and management of innovation in project-based firms.
David is Group Innovation Executive at Laing O’Rourke plc., and was, until recently, advisor to Willmott Dixon and CSC, developing strategies and capabilities for innovation. He has also advised several government and industry organisations focusing on research, development and innovation.

Bernard Hensey
CEO Phive Plasma Technology

Bernard is CEO and founder of Phive Plasma Technologies, a spin out from DCU, that redefines plasma processing technology for semiconductor, display and solar device manufacture.
He is founder and chairman of NewCode Technologies a software tools company that allows for rapid migration of legacy code to SOA based platforms, and founder and director of Aircraft Management Technologies (AMT) a technology company that provides a solution for distributing workflow and data to aircraft. Customers include Boeing, Singapore Airlines, Rockwell Collins, EasyJet and others. He developed AMT’s Flightman™ software to be the leading solution in the sector. Bernard was awarded the “Young Software Company of Year 2002” by the Irish Software Association and also received the ICT excellence award for “Best Example of Mobile Internet Technology” in 2003. He was Group VP Operations, SR Technics and completed, with the TEAM Aer Lingus management team, the sale of the company to FLS Aerospace.
He holds an MBA from Manchester Business School and a BA BAI Mechanical Engineering Degree from Trinity College Dublin.

Cornelius Herstatt
Founder of the Institute of Technology and Innovation Management at the Hamburg University of Technology

Cornelius Herstatt is managing director and professor with the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). He is also a founding partner at the European Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (EITIM).
Cornelius studied Business Administration and holds a doctoral degree from the University of Zurich. He was research associate at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH). He is an experienced consultant in the area of technology and innovation management, strategy and organisation. As a member of the management at Wärtsilä NSD Schweiz AG, Winterthur, Switzerland he was responsible for Business Development and Technology Licensing.
Professor Herstatt has published various books and over 130 papers on innovation and technology management. His main research areas are: Front End of Innovation, Management of Innovation Projects, Lead User Management, Open Innovation and Innovation Off-shoring. He is involved in research projects in Japan, India and the USA. He is a member of the German Association of Professors of Business Administration, of the Research Group of Research and Development Management at the “Schamalenbachgesellschaft” for Business Administration, and of several editorial boards. He is Area Manager of the International Journal for Innovation and Technology Management. He is also an alumnus/fellow of the Japanese Society for Promoting Science, the East West Centre and Templeton College, Oxford.

Elena Lurie-Luke
Director of BioScience Business Development, Europe, Middle East and Central & East Aisia for Procter & Gamble
Based in Egham UK, Elena has been with Procter & Gamble for 13 years and moved to her current role three years ago. Before that she worked in the HealthCare Division where she had a wide range of experience including Good Manufacturing Practice audits of non western suppliers, global product design and professional validation.
Elena was born in Russia and has degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, and a PhD in Biochemistry from M.V Lomonsov Moscow State Academy of Fine Chemical Technology. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Her current responsibilities are with the P&G Connect and Develop programme which identifies best-in-class solutions and opportunities elsewhere and brings them into P&G.

Alexander Osterwalder
Partner - Arvetica

Dr. Alexander Osterwalder is an acknowledged world expert on business model innovation. He is a partner currently working on a new management book on the topic.The book itself will be based on an innovative and disruptive business model.
Besides his writing, speaking and workshop engagements he is a partner at Switzerland based consultancy Arvetica that advises private banking and wealth management institutions. He has been active in the banking industry as an entrepreneur since 1999. Dr. Osterwalder also founded Business Model Design, a consulting firm specialised in business model innovation. Prior to consulting, Dr. Osterwalder worked at the University of Lausanne, and as an online journalist for the major Swiss business magazine BILANZ. In addition to consulting in the private sector, he helped build up a globally active network based in Thailand in the field of knowledge management, HIV/AIDS and malaria.
Dr. Osterwalder holds a Ph.D and Masters degree from the HEC Business School of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He is an active member of the IMD based Open World Initiative (OWI).

Robert Shelton is a co-author of the book, Making Innovation Work (2006). Mr. Shelton has spent his entire professional life working on innovation. Presently he is a Director and a leader of the innovation practice at PRTM Management Consultants. With over thirty years experience, Mr. Shelton has assisted leading government organisations and companies around the world specialising in developing and integrating innovative business models and new technologies to create valuable new business opportunities for his clients.

Kouchi Zhang
Principal Scientist at Philips Applied Technologies and Professor at the Faculty of Engineering in Eindhoven University of Technology

Prof. Dr. G.Q.(Kouchi) Zhang is also a senior director of NXP Semiconductors, working on industrial strategy, roadmap and partnership. He also chairs the "More than Moore" technology domain for European Technology Platform Nanoelectronics, serves as deputy director of European Center for Micro and Nanoreliability (EUCEMAN) and plays an active role in Dutch national strategic innovation programme for nanoelectronics and embedded systems.
Professor Zhang is also professor for micro/nanoreliability in Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. He has authored/co-authored more than 150 scientific publications (including books and book chapters).
