Enterprise Ireland's mission is to help its clients to build competitiveness and grow profitably. Employees, their knowledge, skills and competencies play a critical and strategic role in achieving this. Our services to you in strengthening and developing these resources include providing advice, funding and practical assistance, through:
Implementing a human resources (HR) skills appraisal.
HR Skills Appraisal
Driven by the business needs, the appraisal process identifies the range and extent of training and development required for management and staff in such business areas as:
When completing the appraisal questionnaire, assisted by our Human Resources Development Adviser (HRDA), the weaknesses in skills and competencies can be identified. Once established, the HRDA will help in identifying the training courses, educational programmes, trainers and institutions to bridge these shortfalls.
Key People
If the skills appraisal process identifies a business function where the injection of a key person with strategic skills are required, then the HRDA can advise on the calibre of person required and the funding options available. Our support will focus on recruiting the right person, matching the individual to the company and creating the right climate to nurture and embed the skill and knowledge. We can help you recruit and interview suitable people essential to business growth.
Compiling a Strategic HR Training Plan
The skills appraisal also provides data for compiling the Strategic HR Training Plan, with which your HRDA can assist. This two-year plan outlines the intended training for each employee and how the acquired skills / competencies contribute to your business objectives.
Additionally the plan outlines such items as:
- Training providers; both internal and external, and
- Courses; their duration, content aims and costs.
Financial Support
Depending on your company size, location and expected investment, varying levels of support are available for both the engagement of a key person and implementation of HR training plans. Further information is available by either consulting our finance brochure or by contacting the relevant HRDA.
