Environmental Management System

The aim of the Environmental Management System (EMS) initiative is to improve the strategic capability of companies in the management of environmental issues and to develop and exploit the market opportunities that improved environmental performance can bring.

An EMS is a formal, site-specific, documented system which enables a company to manage the environmental aspects of its operations in a manner that is pro-active, continuing and systematic.  The internationally recognised EMS standard is ISO 14001.


What costs are eligible?

Costs towards hiring an external consultant (maximum €1,500 per day to include travel and subsistence and all out of pocket expenses) to assist in the installation of the EMS, provided the company achieves level 3 or higher of ISO4001 or EMAS.


Maximum support limits

Support of up to €12,750 or 50% of eligible expenditure subject to a maximum of €25,500 may be available.

Grant support will not be available for EMS validation audits or certification fees of other bodies such as IPC, NSAI or equivalent.

Please note that support for the Environmental Management System initiative is provided under Enterprise Ireland Category 1 funding.  Other Category 1 funding included support for consultancyrecruitment of a key managerfeasibility studiesmarket research,  mentor network service, trade fair participation  and training  support.

A cumulative grant limit within a rolling two-year period for all proposals approved under this Category 1 funding.  For further information, please discuss with your Development Adviser.

The grant maximum is based on a percentage level of your expenditure and may be reduced if you have raised funds under the BES (Business Expansion Scheme) or SCS (Seed Capital Scheme).

Project ideas must be discussed with your  Enterprise Ireland Development Adviser prior to submitting a completed application form. If you are not already a client of Enterprise Ireland, please contact your nearest Enterprise Ireland Regional Office or Shannon Development.

Grant application forms on the relevant form must be completed and returned prior to the commencement of the project to:
