International Internship Programme : Role Profile

Enterprise Ireland works in partnership with client companies to help them become world-class players and build a sustainable competitive advantage in the global marketplace, leading to significant growth in exports.  Our International  Internship Programme is a two year programme which gives graduates the opportunity to work with us in our overseas network to achieving this.

As a participant in the Enterprise Ireland International Internship Programme, you will be an integral part of Enterprise Ireland's international marketing network, delivering marketplace services to indigenous Irish companies from all sectors and industries - e.g. consumer goods, industrial manufacturing, electronics and engineering, digital media, telecommunications and emerging technologies.

Your first week with Enterprise Ireland will be spent in Dublin on an Induction programme.  During this time, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the organisation and how we work. You will meet colleagues from both home and overseas and you will commence the skills training which is an on-going part of the two-year programme.

Initially, you will attend foundation workshops in market research, business writing and time management techniques.   As you progress from your first to second year on the programme further training will be provided to support your professional development - e.g. report writing skills, project management, negotiation techniques and meeting skills. These skills will be further developed through on-the-job coaching and relevant work experience.

When you first join your overseas team, you will work with experienced marketing professionals, initially on market research projects.   As you develop in the role and gain more confidence, you will be given responsibility for your own research projects and your work will include, for example, identifying key potential customers, agents and market partners for Irish clients.  You will organise buyer visits to Ireland and visits by Irish clients to your market and be involved in managing events such as trade fairs and exhibitions.

This is a challenging role and requires individuals who are highly motivated with energy and enthusiasm to deliver projects on their own initiative. An ability to work with others and to communicate clearly and effectively is essential.  Fluency in a second language is an advantage.
